“The Photography Exhibition You Don’t Need To See”
Dubai, 31 January 2025. The chairman and founder of the Everyday Refugees Foundation, Muhammed Muheisen, participated in the launch of Canon’s World Unseen exhibition at the Al Shindagha Historic District during the Sikka Art & Design Festival in Dubai, UAE.
World Unseen is an immersive, first-of-its-kind photography exhibition that enables everyone—blind, partially sighted, and sighted visitors—to experience imagery in an entirely new way.
The exhibition includes a photograph that shows Afghan refugee children playing on the outskirts of Islamabad, Pakistan, taken by a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist, Muhammed Muheisen. ‘A Smile in the Middle of the Rubble” is dominated by the bleak colours of the brown brick, the dull tones of mud and grass. Yet the children, as they always do, bring colour and light. More here: https://www.canon-europe.com/view/capturing-joy-refugee-settlement/
Following the official opening of the World Unseen exhibition, Muheisen conducted a photography workshop for an inspiring group of visually impaired youth through the Kalimat Foundation.
Canon’s World Unseen exhibition is on display until February 9, 2025.
