A year that we all have experienced and lived differently. With your help and support, we succeeded to expand and maintain our projects and ongoing campaign “We are all in this together”, supporting thousands of people in need amid this challenging year that changed the way we all live. We documented, we helped, we educated and we managed to empower.
In February, we launched the project “Beat the Cold”, to help and empower refugees and local communities in Jordan. We delivered hundreds of outdoor footwear by our long-term partner KEEN Europe to Syrian refugees and local communities in the country.
In April, we launched the ongoing campaign “We are all in this together”. The goal of the campaign is to help and support those in need through these challenging times we are all passing through. We delivered hundreds of children’s outfits and other items by Pigeon Organics in a camp north of the Greek capital.
In May, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, we handed clothes to infants and young children in a camp in the Greek capital. Also, we launched a fine art print sale of images donated by Muhammed Muheisen a two-time Pulitzer prize-winning photojournalist and the founder of Everyday Refugees Foundation, the proceeds helped us to expand the campaign that we launched in April and keep it going.
In June, on the occasion of World Refugee Day which is marked annually on the 20th of the month, the founder of Everyday Refugees Foundation, Muhammed Muheisen, took over the Instagram feed of National Geographic sharing images, with over 145 million followers, showing the daily life and challenges refugees face. Spreading awareness to millions of people in different parts of the world.
In November, we distributed hundreds of outdoor trousers from KEEN Europe to refugees in four camps north of the Greek capital.
Throughout the year, we shared our vision via several international media outlets, organizations, lectures and exhibitions, among others the Independent, Il Fotografo, Digital Camera World, Canon, Focus Magazine and regularly on National Geographic Instagram feed. Through our social media platforms, we told hundreds of untold stories, we raised the voice of thousands of unheard voices, spreading awareness to millions of people around the world.
The highlight of 2019 was our project Empowerment by Solar, we distributed hundreds of solar products from Waka Waka to Syrian refugee families and local communities living in tents in urban areas of Jordan. Through talks and exhibitions, such as the TEDx talk by Muhammed Muheisen, Light on the Move photo exhibition during the International Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights in Geneva. Switzerland, a college lecture at Earlham College in the Midwest, USA, and a lecture at Isala theater in Capelle aan den Ijssel in the Netherlands, we shared our vision with a wider audience. As well in the media such as, National Geographic, World Press Photo, Lensculture, Kamera Express and SBS Australia.
