In July 2019 Everyday Refugees Foundation and Princess Alia Foundation, our partner in Jordan, distributed hundreds of solar products donated to us by Waka Waka, a global social enterprise that develops and sells portable solar products for people without access to electricity.
The main goal of our project “Empowerment by Solar” in Jordan is to help and empower local communities and Syrian refugees, the ones who fled the conflict and the ones affected by.
Waka Waka provides solar products to families in humanitarian crises and improve access to safe and sustainable solar in rural communities.
On Wednesday the 17th of July 2019, we distributed dozens of solar products to Syrian refugee families sheltering in an informal tented settlement near the Jordanian city of Mafraq.

On Sunday the 21st of July we distributed dozens more of solar products to another informal tented settlement on the outskirts of Mafraq in Jordan where many Syrian refugee families are taking shelter.
“The day you handed us the solar products we experienced two days of power cut, we were so happy to have it and use it,” Hassan Mahmoud, a Syrian refugee from Deir ez-Zor said to our team.
On Tuesday 23rd of July 2019 our team of Everyday Refugees and Princess Alia Foundation distributed dozens of the units to local communities in Wadi Musa, who has no access to electricity in their tents and far away from the main streets.
“Now we no longer have to walk far to the supermarket to charge our phones”, Abu Mohammed, a Jordanian living in a tent in Wadi Musa mentioned to our team.
